Yesterday I wrote a blog post on why I thought Authorship Markup will become the new PageRank. Today I wanted to show you more about what we’re seeing in the Google results when it comes to social media shares. Authorship Markup and sharing of your content by others are both important but Authorship is something you really need to manage and cultivate in the long term. The sharing of your content will only impact the search results for a limited number of people in a limited way. If your buyer persona’s don’t follow a lot of people on Twitter or use Gmail or Google+ extensively then the “sharing” results in Google won’t have a large impact for you. Authorship Markup will.
