Following on from last week on how to use video for your business, I wanted to show you how to optimise your videos on YouTube for some good SEO traffic. Let’s face it, YouTube is the world’s second biggest search engine.
Just like page titles in your web page SEO, the video title is the first piece of information Google sees about your vide. Make sure you are using your keywords in your title. Remember though you want humans to watch the video so make sure it’s attractive to them as well!
Once again use your keywords here. Also make sure you put your home page URL early in the description so that users can easily find you outside of YouTube.
This is not that important for SEO but like the keywords meta tag in a web page you may as well throw a few keywords in here.
If like me, Google does not understand you say you may want to manually edit your captions. I haven’t tried this one myself but I have had good feedback from other youtubers that it works really well for Youtube search.
Hooking up your Google profile to your account is imperative if you want unlimited downloads and achieve credibility from Google’s perspective. Google is rewarding content that it can attribute to an actual human.
By sharing your videos with your networks it will increase the initial views and Youtube will see that it is an active popular video. The more views you get early, the more it will help you appear in search. Like any other content marketing make sure you ask people to share it or engage with you if you like it. If you find that your video is being shared or embedded on other sites go to those sites and engage with those audiences.
