4 Pro Tips for Video Marketing

by Jim June 5, 2013

I got back from the PeSA Conference on the Gold Coast on the weekend and one of the workshops I ran was on using video for your marketing.  This is the second year I’ve run the workshop and I usually weave in SEO tips as well. So we work on what videos you could create for your business and how to get them ranked. This week’s video is an interview with Hamish Rodgers WIlson who did the video workshop last year and now is making good online sales through the use of video.  I just read that last sentence back, you would think I’m trying to rank for “Video” sheesh!

1. Be consistent.

Get into a rhythm of publishing. I learned that one from Darren Rowse. Why should people invest their time in you if you are not publishing on a regular basis? Also be consistent in your message, don’t use you Youtube business channel to upload family holiday videos. I’ve seen people do it.

2. Just do it.

Don’t censor yourself, just pick up the camera and start recording. If it’s rubbish you don’t have to publish it. The more you do it the better you will get.

3. The mundane works

Just because you may find the subject matter ordinary or mundane, doesn’t mean your audience will. When I started doing video I thought you can find this stuff online anywhere.

4. Have good audio

Audiences are more forgiving of average lighting than they are audio. A lot of your audience will be listening with headphones so noisy audio is a real turn off.

Below is the video that started generating sales for Hamish.
