UPDATE: Video transcript available for ’30 minutes SEO To Get On Page 1′
A few weeks back I wrote on post about cheap SEO vs Good SEO. A former client had spent over $12,000 with another SEO company and when I looked at what they had I could find nothing that I would describe as SEO. I wanted to help (let’s call her Clare) Clare but I could not drop my prices. As our rates are based upon how many hours we work on a client’s site I suggested that we work less hours over a longer period of time. So instead of the normal minimum of 12 hours, I made it 4 hours. That was the basis of our EOFY product that sold out within a couple of days. Basically if you want results twice as fast you need to pay twice as much.
I’m very happy to say that so far the results are promising. We have only spent around 25 minutes on Clare’s site so far which includes admin and some basic setup stuff. Already though we are seeing some very promising results.
Clare’s site is quite small. Less than 50 pages. However there was a lot of “noise” (full details in original post). We always start SEO by cleaning up the index. We haven’t even completed half the things I originally found yet but already it’s having a positive effect.
Here’s what we saw with Clare’s site;
When the results from doing site: check are double what is in the sitemap, that’s where you need to start. Either the sitemap is wrong or the index is wrong. In most cases as in this one, the index was wrong. It had crawled duplicate content, gallery pages etc.
Clare’s results will still bounce around a little for various reasons as Google adjusts to the new picture it has of the site, the early signs a very promising though.
Do you check the index regularly? Any questions about what you see? Let us know.
