If you watch Australian TV you will remember that annoying Yellow Pages ad which had the catchphrase “look at me”? I know a lot of people who really liked it though. The core message of the ad was how Yellow Pages was now going to help businesses online.
We’re starting to see that now manifest itself in Google Adwords. In today’s vlog I show you at least 227 companies that are earmarked for a very weird online marketing campaign.
Of course I think these companies could be spending their money better but then I think a tiny version of the yellow pages paper directory for the car is a bad idea. Obviously I’m wrong or we wouldn’t have one of those delivered to every home in Australia. At the core of this new service is an Adwords campaign.
1. Their core strength is a paper directory
2. They suggest they register a domain with a combination of your business name and theirs for the campaign which they get to own.
3. They host that domain on the same IP address as 230 other sites.
4. The dominant branding on your landing page is their branding.
5. Lots of exit links on the landing page that will take the user to your direct competitor
Did I miss any?
