If you haven’t seen this video yet you should… it’s what this blog post is about.
On March 5 2012, @sammartino said to me “Give me $500, you’ll never get it back, I might give you a backlink but that’s it. This thing is going to be awesome.” I remember the night he asked because we were at the launch of a Herald Sun paywall that we had been invited to by @trevoryoung. I agreed to fork over the cash as did 39 others because we knew whatever @sammartino was up to would be awesome. We were all sworn to secrecy for the next 18 months. During that time @rauloaida & @sammartino built that life size lego car that runs on air in the above video.
I dedicated extra hours to it over the last few weeks as did a lot of us with interwebs skills. Back on the 25th of November we got together and pitched in to give Steve & Raul a hand with everything from building a website, discussing keywords, PR, Youtube branding/monetization and Google analytics.
At the time of writing this post the above video is about to crack 1.4 million views. It has been an incredible privilege to be part of the project albeit in a small capacity. To be honest when it went live two days ago I was thinking how cool it would be if this thing got 50,000 views in a week.
Here’s my take on things.
