Google Waves at Twitter

Do you really need to do social media? ( I suddenly hear a herd of Social Media Experts running towards me with their Social Media Clubs raised)
There was a LOT of money spent on web sites in the mid 1990s when HTML coders were charging $1000/hour. Where are those investments now?
Bing & Google are trying to get twitter feeds. My guess is that Google will integrate these in a similar fashion to the way it did the USENET (If you are GenY, ask your Mum what that is). So maybe in the not too distant future we will have related, up to the minute tweets in our search results.
