I review a site this week and do a 10 minute tutorial on SEO.I look at both internal and external elements of good SEO.
Some people also also refer to this as “on page SEO” but when I talk about “internal SEO” it also cover things like internal link structure of a site as well as what the site is serving up to Google. We tend to treat the Google bot as a small furry animal, if you want to get it eating out of your hand, make sure you have food it likes! In today’s show I look at what a viewer is doing with their page titles, meta tags, headings and links as well as what Google is seeing.
What are you up against? What are the factors external to your site that are affecting your ranking? This includes back links of course (other web pages that link to your web pages) but also what is the competition doing. How difficult will your task be to rank higher and what sort of things will you need to do.
The primary tools I use in today’s video are Google Webmaster Tools and SEO for Firefox from Aaron Wall.
