3 Authorship Resources You Should See

by Jim September 11, 2013

As you know, when Google begins to bang on about something it is a good idea to pay attention. Usually if they spend time trying to get people to take note of a concept or idea they are implementing it into their algorithm. Now they are ramping up around authorship. Here are a few things that have happened recently that are worth paying attention too.

Authorship and SEO

1. The Rel = “author” FAQ,

This is a really good resource provided by Google that answers a lot of questions about Authorship. Interestingly authorship is intended for real people only. Not mascots or fictional characters. This is another example of Google wanting to connect a piece of content to an actual human, so they can tie to your “permanent record”.

2. Easy Authorship Setup.

In case you haven’t seen this resource it is a simple way to setup authorship.

3. Rolling out to a platform near you

If you publish on WordPress.com or Typepad .com, Google announced yesterday that they are automatically implementing Authorship for these sites if you are using your Google profile to sign into them.

Remember if you break the webmaster guidelines they can take away your Google profile and everything that goes with it. Pretty scary.
