Google has some awesome products, no argument. Occasionally though they are institutionally stupid with some of them. I think it’s because they are sooo very big now.
We have a client on Princes highway in Clayton Victoria. The Princes Highway in that part of Victoria is also called Dandenong Road. If you Google anywhere between 1000 to 2499 princes highway Clayton, you will be shown a single address in the neighbouring suburb of Huntingdale, which is actually in another suburb called Oakleigh. Huh? If instead you use the address of Dandenong Road though you get the right location.
When you click into the maps and take a closer look at that location it is actually Oakleigh
We found out about the stuff up because one of our clients customers’ got lost using Google Maps. Apparently it happens. We got straight onto Google My Business Team so they could fix. Here’s the response.
Seriously Google WTF? Apart from the broken English and atrocious grammar the information makes little to no sense. We’ve tried editing the data by using “send feedback” inside maps as that is the only other option. This will not only effect navigation it will also effect local search. I was at least expecting ” Thanks we will pass that onto the appropriate team”. Am I asking too much?
