AI Challenges and Getting Started

Alright, let’s dive into this week’s theme – the initial challenges of embracing AI and the exciting journey of getting started. Now, I’ve had countless conversations with folks who are intrigued by the potential of AI but often find themselves stuck at the starting line. And you know what? It’s okay not to know where to begin. In a world flooded with information about OpenAI and ChatGPT, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But here’s the thing – to truly embrace AI, you just need to dive in and start using it.

Here’s a piece of advice I came across on the internet that resonated with me – the best way to learn to use these tools is to just use them. Simple, right? And I wholeheartedly agree. Think about it as if you’re instructing an employee or a collaborator. What would you ask them to do? How would you explain the task you have in mind? It’s the same with AI. Think of it as your tool, your assistant, and guide it with your clear instructions. Now, this approach might be my cup of tea, but it’s not for everyone. Some folks need a structured approach, and that’s perfectly fine.

As we’ve started implementing AI at StewArt Media, I’ve realized the significance of establishing processes to help our team members navigate AI effectively. And this journey of refining our approach has unveiled a few key principles that I believe can guide anyone looking to make the most of AI’s potential. It all comes down to understanding your objectives, defining the problems you want to solve, and articulating the tasks you want to accomplish.

Practical AI Applications: Leveraging Expertise

Now, let’s shift gears and talk about real-world applications. A brilliant example comes from a recent experience. We’ve been diving into AI-powered solutions for not only business tasks but also personal development. And the results? Truly remarkable. Let’s take the example of an optic object, a sort of identity marker for our business, within the context of room temperature superconductors. Yes, it sounds complex, but bear with me.

We used this concept as a buyer persona, instructing AI to predict how the discovery of a room temperature superconductor would impact StewArt Media over the next decade. And the insights we received were invaluable – it not only highlighted potential challenges but also opened doors to new market positioning strategies. Now, you might think this level of application is over the top, but it showcases the capabilities AI holds when provided with well-structured instructions.

Another real-world application involves troubleshooting – not just any troubleshooting, but with AI as your ally. Picture this: My neighbour faced a tricky issue with his tractor’s diesel engine. It was revving too high, a potentially explosive situation. Armed with a basic understanding of the problem, I turned to ChatGPT4’s code interpreter. I uploaded the engine manual, outlined the symptoms, and requested a checklist for further investigation. The result? In no time, we identified the root cause and saved a tractor from impending doom. Using GPT4 and Code Interpreter will cost $20USD a month, but I seriously cannot recommend it enough. Once you realise the power it holds, you can improve your education and upskill both your work and personal lives.

Beyond business tasks, AI can also turbocharge personal development. Ever come across services that condense books into bite-sized summaries? Nick Young, a key player on our team, decided to explore this territory. By engaging ChatGPT, he realized the depth of AI’s capabilities. You see, AI isn’t just about business operations; it can be your conduit to self-improvement, learning, and inspiration.

Closing Thoughts: Embrace, Engage, Excel

As I wrap up this week’s insights, I want to leave you with a few key takeaways. Embracing AI might seem like navigating uncharted waters, but remember, the best way to understand it is by using it. While some advocate for intricate prompt engineering, I believe in simplicity – articulate your problem, define your output’s format, and provide clear instructions. AI is a powerful tool; it’s like having a diverse team of professionals in your pocket, available whenever you need them. But like any tool, it’s crucial to use it thoughtfully and responsibly.
